The Dean is leaving.  What happens next?

 - Bishop Barbara will appoint an interim.  She is already working on this and ideally the same person will be with us until our new Dean arrives.

 -   The Bishop will invite people from St. Paul's to submit     nominations to be on a search committee.  These can be from people offering themselves, or from others who wish to nominate another parishioner.  The Bishop will select 6 or so from these nominations, with broad representation, to be on the search committee.   She will also appoint a consultant to represent APCI.

-         The search committee will organize a parish day or days to compile a parish profile

-         Bishop Barbara will post the position.  Each applicant will be sent the parish profile and invited to respond

-         Bishop Barbara will interview all applicants, either by teleconference, or by Skype, and will make a short list of suitable candidates

-         The St. Paul's search committee will interview those on the short list, and make a choice

It will probably be at least a year until we have a new Dean and Rector at St. Paul's.   During this time, the Bishop and the Reverend Sandra Sugden will provide pastoral care, along with the interim when named.

Louise's last day will be Easter Sunday, April 5.  Sandra Sugden will be leading worship and providing pastoral care until May 3.  Bishop Barbara will lead worship on April 12.

Please contact the wardens, Sandra or Bishop Barbara if you have any questions or concerns.

Bishop Barbara: 778-471-5573, or apcibishop@shaw.ca

Search Committee

The Bishop asks that parishioners interested in serving on the Personnel Committee to search for our new Dean and Rector submit a nomination form.   She will select 6 – 8 people from names submitted.  The Bishop will also appoint an APCI representative and a consultant to this committee.  Nomination forms or downloads are available from St. Paul's office, and on Sundays from the wardens.   Please return the signed form to St. Paul's office in an envelope marked "Bishop Barbara" no later than March 31.   The Committee will be named on April 12.  More information about the work of the Personnel Committee is available from St. Paul's office.

February Circular Edition

Enjoy our February edition of the Cathedral Circular which is now available online!

Parish Update: February 13, 2015

Hello St. Paul’s Family

Here are a few things you may need to know – I have attached a digital copy of the circular. There will be a few paper copies at the back of the church this Sunday.

A call for Soup!!
We have had 32 neighbors in for soup in January and 25 so far in February. This is means there is a LOT of frozen soup going out (114 in the past 6 weeks). Our supply is low – very very low so if you have a little time in the next couple of weeks think about making soup. They often request split pea and ham, it seems to be a favorite. Other things that are very popular are frozen “treats” like cookies and brownies in zip lock bags. It is nice to offer that as a special bonus.

SUNDAY!!!!!ANNUAL VESTRY MEETING Sunday February 15th, following 10 amservice.  Light lunch and child care will be provided.

Pancake Supper – February 17 from 5 – 6:30pm in the hall. There is a suggested donation of $5. Come out and enjoy pancakes, crafts and laughs.

CAN THERE BE A MIDDLE TO THE MIDDLE EAST?

The Rev. Canon Dr. Richard LeSueur

In the wake of another tragic episode of violence between Gaza and Israel this past summer, and disturbing trends sweeping across Syria and Iraq, one wonders whether this region can ever know peace. In this one address Richard will draw on his first-hand experience of recent history in Israel/Palestine, and provide an overview of the past century with maps and charts that illustrate the fundamental changes underway.

The Rev. Canon Dr. Richard LeSueur
Richard is a former resident of Jerusalem. He continues to facilitate programs of pilgrimage and study in the biblical lands annually. He was the former Director of the Desert Program at St. George’s CollegeJerusalem, and serves as adjunct faculty with Trinity CollegeToronto. He is the rector of St. George, Cadboro BayVictoria

OUR NAME
IS
PILGRIM

A Workshop at St. Paul’s Cathedral with The Rev. Canon Dr. Richard LeSueur
360 Nicola St. Kamloops BC

Monday February 23 2015
9:30 am – 11:30 am

A new reality has quietly but powerfully come on the stage of Western experience.  It is being described as a renaissance in pilgrimage. Thousands of footfalls are occurring on the ancient routes. One cannot know whether the attraction is towards the new and novel, the physical challenge, curiosity, or whether something deeper is taking place. Has a searching and longing in our culture in turn become a journeying? For decades the Christian community has been singing hymns of being a people on a journey, fellow travellers on the road. Perhaps that is truer today than ever before. In multiple ways, a contemporary rediscovery is underway that our name is indeed, pilgrim.

Join us at the Cathedral for this exploration of the practice of pilgrimage.  It is a free event and all are welcome!.
Please pre-register by calling:  250 372 3912 or by emailing stpaulscathedral@shawbiz.ca

Richard LeSueur has been facilitating programs of pilgrimage for more than 30 years, principally in the Middle East. He was the former Director of the Desert Program at St. George’s CollegeJerusalem. This past summer he presented a paper at the First Global Conference on Sacred Journey at OxfordUK. He serves as adjunct faculty with Trinity CollegeToronto and is rector of St. George, Cadboro BayVictoria.
