A WARM PLACE TO SLEEP

Who is My Neighbour? Out of the Cold: Extreme Weather Shelter

Out of the Cold is a program offered and organized by the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Kamloops that provides overnight shelter including an evening and morning meal to the homeless of the community on evenings in the winter months when the temperature dips below –10C. St. Paul’s Cathedral has entered into partnership again this winter with the Society offering our basement space and facility to house the shelter for the winter of 2008/09.

Every Wednesday evening starting November 5, 2008 through until March 31, 2009 the shelter will open at 7:00 p.m. It will also be open any other evening that temperature drops below –10C. The shelter closes each morning after breakfast at 8 a.m. except for Sunday mornings and Friday mornings when the shelter will close half an hour earlier.

We pray there will come a time when this service will not be necessary, but until such time, St. Paul's is happy to help our neighbours in this way.
