Do you know of a young adult that is seeking something different... an experience of challenge, adventure, life direction, work, play and service?
The Winter Youth Leadership Development Program (WYLD) at Sorrento Centre is now accepting applications!

WYLD is akin to Katimavik and other youth leadership initiatives. Some familiar faces to the Cathedral are helping to develop this program including Dan Hines and Melissa Green.
The focus is on the development of lifelong competencies in the areas of autonomous living, spiritual growth, healthy lifestyle and environmental stewardship.
This new program is for young adults (19-28 years) starting in September 2015 at Sorrento Centre
*Due to some generous funding support, the full seven month program (including lodging and food) is only $2,000.

For an application form or for our FAQ page: http://www.sorrento-centre.bc.ca/105-WYLD-FAQ.html#wyldforms

If you have questions feel free to contact Dan (djhines2012@gmail.com) or Melissa (associatedirector@sorrento-centre.bc.ca).

From your Bishop in Charge:
Excerpt from my sermon on April 10, 2015
I am pleased to announce your search committee - Jon Buckle has agreed to chair the committee and serving with him will be Jennifer Cane, Kathryn Brisco, Joan Lukow, Jo-Mary Hunter, Tammy Davis, Lee Emery, Dwight Oatway and your consultant will be Brian Krushel, who serves as pastor to the North Thompson Shared Ministry.
They role is to work with me to put together a good parish profile – one that includes a process of deep listening to what you the community gathered envision for your future mission and ministry and to define the qualification of a new spiritual leader to assist you to live into that vision.  The task of interviewing candidates and making recommendations to me will fall to this group of faithful people.  If there are to do their job well, you will need to be engaged – offering your honest opinions, your best thought – your heart’s desire for this community to them.  And you will need to pray for them – constantly – in your personal prayers and in your corporate prayers.
It will be through your actions – the gathered community - as you enter this process of discernment that God’s abiding love for us will be revealed to all.  We who have receive the Holy Spirit and know the power of Christ’s death and resurrection are called to reveal that love to others by working together, offering ourselves to help where help is needed – doing a little overtime for Jesus as my friend used to say to me.  This is a journey that we must do together – your search committee has a task, your leadership team of Sandra, the wardens and others as we bring them on board – all will need your help.  Over the next months they will be a greater demand on your wardens – I know because I will put much of it on them.  We will need others to step forward to take some of their tasks from them and support them in whatever way necessary.  We will need to let some things go and re-evaluate other things in this time of transition. I ask you to pray for your leadership team, your wardens and all in leadership and to give them your full support.

Blessings,
+Barbara

A Note from the Bishop – Who is doing what now?

Dear Friends:
Over the next month I will be working on making an interim appointment of a priest to give leadership until the appointment of a Rector and Dean.
In the meantime, Sandra Sugden and I will be overseeing the worship and pastoral needs of the Cathedral community.

Any calls for pastoral needs should come to the Cathedral phone number – during the week Claire will be taking calls and on the week-end Sandra will be checking the office phone.  Should something arise that is of a urgent nature, please be in touch with us at our home numbers.  Bishop’s 250-374-5112 or Sandra 250-376-1288 or your Church Wardens who can also be in touch with us.

Time of transition are always hard for us.  Please know that we are doing our best to ensure that the needs of folks of the Cathedral will be well cared for during this transition.

Blessings,
+Barbara
