Artists Workshop -
ART!!  We are holding an Art Show here at the Cathedral in the season of Advent which will be showing various works on the seasonal theme of waiting, expectation and preparing.  Members of the Cathedral are invited to submit pieces/works for the show which will officially open to the public on Saturday November 22 (wine and cheese evening open) and then Sunday November 23 to the parish.  The artwork will be on display in the Cathedral Sanctuary through Advent and Christmas.
Pieces are to be "hang ready" and submitted by November 15.

To get us inspired for this work and the theme we are holding an ARTISTS WORKSHOP on Sunday September 21 from
2 pm - 7 pm in the Cathedral Hall.  (dinner will be included at 6 pm). Kathie MacDuff, a multimedia artist from Calgary will be facilitating us in various creative explorations and medium methods on the themes of Advent. We will also be working on some collaborative pieces for the show that afternoon.  Any interested people, artists, budding artists or even just the curious are welcome to join this workshop.  Registration is limited to 20 people. There are only 5 spaces left!!  This workshop is FREE!! If you plan to attend, email the Dean at:  dlp@shawbiz.ca or phone 250 372 3912 x202 and leave a message.  Preregistration helps us provide enough supplies and food for those attending.  For more information, speak to the Dean or to Jennifer St. Marie.

Thompson Blazers - Billet Families Needed
Dear Sir/Madame,

The Thompson Blazers are a Major Midget Regional hockey team based in Kamloops and the team represents 11 B.C Minor Hockey Associations in the Thompson region.  These include Chase, Sicamous, Revelstoke, North Okanagan, Clearwater, Merritt, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Lillooett, Salmon Arm and Kamloops.  Major Midget hockey is the highest level of minor hockey played in Canada and B.C.. The Blazers play in the 11 team B.C. Major Midget league, having won the League Championship on 2 occasions.   The winner of the league represents this province at the Telus Cup, the National Midget Championship.

The team is currently looking for billet families for their out of town players who will play in Kamloops this season.  Billet families are an integral part of the success of our program.  The age group of the players needing room and board are between 15-17 years old.  Billet families will need to provide strong leadership and a supportive family environment for the  young men who have left their homes at a very young age to pursue their hockey development and dream of playing at the highest level possible.

A billet family's responsibilities and duties would commence September 15th, 2014 and would conclude as early as the second week in March 2015 or as late as the third week in April 2015.  Expectations and guidelines for the player and billet family will be provided to each family opening up their home.  Each player will need their own room and will need to register at a high-school within the catchment area of the home (not the billet family's responsibility to register a player at school). Additionally, each family will be provided with a small financial stipend at the beginning/end of each month to off-set the costs of having an additional member in the household.

If this is something that you and your family are interested in for this upcoming season or would like more information regarding this, please contact one of the Thompson Blazers staff members.  We thank you for your consideration in helping making our Major Midget Program stronger and more stable for this upcoming season and for many more seasons to come.  Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Mark Chase (B.Sc - Chemical Biology)
